Coming soon

Welcome to our little corner of the internet! We're Dan & Elle Unglenieks-Ploeg and we're just getting started here.
While I work on crafting longer pieces about the intersections of technology, sustainability, and community resilience, I figured I'd start with a simple introduction.
I'm someone who sees the world as a collection of interconnected systems. Whether I'm maintaining broadcast transmitters across Michigan's Upper Peninsula, analyzing wildfire risk through GIS mapping, or figuring out the logistics of keeping a team competitive through a 200-mile stage rally, I'm always thinking about how the pieces fit together.
This blog will eventually house deeper dives into topics I'm passionate about:
- How circular economy principles can transform rural communities
- The surprising overlaps between broadcast engineering and environmental science
- What grassroots motorsport teaches us about resilience and problem-solving
- Why systems thinking matters more than ever in addressing local challenges
For now, consider this a placeholder. I believe in the power of collaborative local action, in understanding the roles various stakeholders play in our communities, and in using whatever skills we have to make things a little better, a little more sustainable, and a little more resilient.
If you're curious about any of my work in broadcasting, environmental analysis, rally racing, or community development, feel free to reach out. The best conversations often start with shared interests and a simple "hello."
More to come soon.
